Infants, Toddlers and Preschool

Infants learn based on the experiences around them, primarily through touch, sight, and sound. These will be my focus areas. First , by touch. They will be held on a regular basis to be able to get the human contact that is so important in those early months. I will not try to replace the role of the parent but rather to continue to fill the needs while they are are with me. Also,They will be encouraged to "experience" their surroundings by touching toys and things that stimulate their growth. Second, infants learn by sight. They will be introduced to a wide range of stimulus's in color and texture. Finally, by sound. Your infant will continuously hear my soft and reassuring voice as well as music and other stimuli through out their day. As small as they are every moment is a learning experience.

Toddlers continue to learn through touch, sight and sound but are introduced into a more structured learning environment, all done trough fun activities. Your Toddler will be introduced to gross motor and fine motor development. Gross motor can be stimulated with fun movements through play, song and dance. Fine motor is slowly introduced by allowing your child to experience new equipment in art, and play and puzzles. Cognitive stimulation also comes into play by focusing on the basics. ABCs and 123's, finding your nose and other such stimuli-are fun and important to get your child off to a good start. Dramatic play can be a new area for your Toddler by using dress up, make believe and puppet play. Social skills can be one of the most important and hardest skills for your toddler to be introduced to. It is their first real entrance to meeting new friends and seeing that the concept of "sharing will start to be introduced. This is a big developmental age and each new activity will be introduced when your child is ready and no sooner.Through a play based curriculum I will include language, writing, math, art, etc.

My goal is to promote and plan activities that encourage the development of the whole child, including physical, mental, emotional and social aspects. I will observe each child's learning experiences and progress.
I find it important to provide activities that are both age appropriate as well as appropriate for each individuale child.
